It has a remarkably varied and extensive network of open spaces, cultural and civic institutions.Job Description:SALARY: $20-$25 per hour, commensurate with experienceBargaining Unit: N/AREPORTS TO: City AuditorSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: N/AThis is a full-time temporary, non-benefited position for a period of six (6) months or until the return of the full-time employee, whichever occurs firstESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:City Council finance filings and postingsReceive customers or visitors, answers phones, and provide excellent customer serviceMaintains vendor contracts for City and School departmentsApproves and releases purchase ordersProcesses weekly accounts payable batches and check runsCreates new vendors and updates information as neededWorks on various projects assigned by the City Auditor or Assistant AuditorRequired to cross-train and may perform payroll functions required by the Auditor's office as neededRequirements:QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT HIRE: Associates Degree in Business Administration and a minimum of two to four (2-4) years of office work experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Knowledge:Knowledge of standard office practices and proceduresKnowledge of municipal account payable and payroll proceduresWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office, the Internet, and web site technology in support of department operationsAbility:Ability to interact effectively and appropriately with the public and other personnel, perform multiple tasks and maintain confidential informationAbility to acquire knowledge of laws and regulations pertinent to position functionsAbility to learn municipal accounting programsSkills:Proficient computer skillsMathematical skillsRecordkeeping and clerical skillsWritten and oral communication skillsStrong customer service skillsWORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment involves everyday discomforts of a municipal office subject to frequent interruptions.
