Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU setting at nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1, caring for complex diagnoses including trauma, neuro-surgical cases, sepsis, ARDS, CVA, DKA, cardiac surgery recovery (CABG, TAVR, valves), and vascular surgery patients
• Titrate a broad range of vasoactive and sedation drips including propofol, fentanyl, precedex, levophed, vasopressin, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, and others
• Independently interpret cardiac monitor strips using GE monitoring equipment — no monitor technicians are present on the unit
• Operate and manage respiratory therapy equipment including Draeger, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60 BiPAP, and Airvo ventilators in collaboration with 24/7 on-site RT and intensivist support
• Float between sister ICU units (Surgical ICU, Medical/Cardiac ICU, and overflow ICU) as needed, and float to telemetry at a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio when required
• Participate in self-scheduling within unit guidelines; expected to work 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (night shift weekends are Friday–Saturday)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in Arizona (or compact eligibility)
• Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience required — no exceptions ; experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular ICU
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• UNA Dysrhythmia Exam must be completed 24–48 hours prior to position acceptance; maximum of 2 attempts permitted
• Pass/fail Simulation Lab assessment on Day 1 of orientation
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates who have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year are not eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior Level 1 Trauma Center or dedicated neuro ICU experience
• Experience in a similarly sized high-acuity ICU environment
• Familiarity with advanced cardiac support devices such as IABP, Impella, ECMO, or Tandem Heart
• CRRT experience is a plus, though not required
