Electrician Handyperson - Facilities - Norfolk VA

Job Description This position is open to Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard and Reserve Members, Military Spouses, Wounded Warriors, and their Caregivers. BAE Systems is seeking a versatile and skilled Electrician Handyperson to support our Facilities team. This role is critical in ensuring the safety, functionality, and efficiency of our facility infrastructure. The successful candidate will blend specialized electrical expertise with a generalist's approach to maintenance, handling everything from complex wiring repairs to routine facility upkeep. Key Responsibilities Execute electrical installation, maintenance, and repair of wiring and systems to ensure continuous facility operations. Diagnose and resolve electrical malfunctions and facility-related issues, minimizing operational downtime. Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and BAE Systems' safety protocols. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics for accurate repairs and upgrades. Safely operate power tools and diagnostic equipment required for electrical and general maintenance tasks. Maintain meticulous attention to detail to meet professional standards, ensuring long-term reliability and safety. Required Qualifications High School/GED. Proven proficiency in electricity and electrical wiring. Strong knowledge of NEC and industry-standard electrical safety practices. Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately. Comprehensive understanding of power tools and safe application. Prior industrial or shipyard experience preferred. Preferred Qualifications Ability to balance specialized electrical tasks with general handyperson duties. Proactive approach to preventative maintenance. Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Location Norfolk, Virginia.
