Overview Adoptions Specialist The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a dedicated, full-time Adoptions Specialist to join our team and work Thursday through Monday, 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM, at our Sunnyslope Campus. Responsibilities From creating online pet profiles to generate interest, greeting potential adopters, escorting them through kennels, and assisting in the matchmaking adoption process to provide a consistent, positive experience. Assess the needs of potential adopters and match them with pets best suited for their lifestyle and preferences, sharing known history including medical and behavioral insights. Educate adopters about the pets needs and recommend supplies from the retail store to start them off on the right foot. Qualifications High school diploma / GED Six months to one year prior work experience Experience in customer service or animal welfare environment preferred Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Above-average clerical skills with the ability to complete paperwork accurately Ability to learn and demonstrate how to handle animals safely and humanely in all conditions Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Able to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and evenings Work Environment / Physical Demands Standing, walking, sitting, handling objects, reaching with hands and arms, climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposure to dust, heat, cold, temperature changes, wet floors, animal noises, odors, and dander.
