As one of the most comprehensive nonprofit human services agencies in Santa Clara County and the surrounding areas, CS provides prevention, intervention, treatment, and residential services to more than 6,400 clients annually, helping them overcome the challenges posed by mental health issues, substance abuse, trauma, severe family dysfunction, sexual and domestic violence, and human trafficking. Ideal Candidate Qualifications A.A. degree and one‑year direct client work experience or three years direct client work experience in a related field (required or equivalent) For Residential Program, must successfully complete State Community Care Licensing training program provided by Community Solutions during the first week of employment Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist (MHRS) certification preferred Individual preferably bilingual and bicultural Empowerment, advocacy, trauma‑informed and support techniques for people with mental illness or substance abuse issues required Working knowledge of wellness and recovery concepts, Medi‑Cal regulations and program documentation strongly preferred; working knowledge of community resources in Santa Clara County and surrounding areas strongly preferred Responsibilities – Program Specialist II Achieve productivity expectations and maintain assigned case load while working within a program structure Accurately apply Medi‑Cal mandated regulations and documentation requirements based on training and ensure audit‑ready charts Use strength‑based, problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills; consistently apply good judgment and safeguard information to comply with all confidentiality requirements, ethical and legal obligations of the program and Agency Collaborate with the team to maintain positive morale; treat team members professionally and respectfully, sharing acknowledgements and support to build a healthy, well‑functioning team Work independently with a minimum of clinical supervision; provide high‑quality care within scope of discipline Effectively engage and interact with clients and families, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills; handle all client interactions courteously and professionally using effective listening skills and seeking to understand divergent views Demonstrate good customer service skills including a professional telephone manner Demonstrate cultural competency by effectively working with people differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, language capabilities and disabilities Provide positive reinforcement to clients; help clients explore options and empower them to make their own decisions and be self‑sufficient Act calmly in emergency situations and work successfully in a high‑stress work environment; communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing; writing skills, grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation must meet documentation requirements Exhibit organizational skills and good time management; prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks and demands of the job Efficiently complete assigned duties, work within a program structure and provide timely follow‑through of work assignments to meet deadlines Be computer literate with proficiency using Internet Explorer, MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), and quickly learn time and attendance software and electronic medical records (EMR) application Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work Environment and Location Work is performed in office, clinic, or community environments.
