Nurse Technician - 3 North - Full Time/Nights - Req# 2117935709

Job Objective The Nurse Technician performs various patient care activities and related non‑professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs, safety and comfort of patients and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Duties and Responsibilities Provide patient care which includes accurate observations of patient needs, reporting patient symptoms and needs to the Licensed Nurse. Maintain high degree of involvement with patients and family members. Maintain proper body alignment at all times. Assist in general routine patient care based on the Registered Nurse’s assessment and plan of care, adhering to accepted policies and procedures. Perform basic patient care tasks such as hygiene, bed making, oral care, peri‑care, hair care, elimination assistance, and feeding assistance. Assist with patient movement including range of motion, turning patients every 2 hours, positioning in bed, and transferring to chair when applicable. Transport patients by gurney, bed, or wheelchair. Remove and apply restraints. Replace telemetry batteries and patches as requested. Prevent skin breakdown. Record vital signs, including pain level. Assist with maintaining accurate intake and output. Participate in hourly rounding to assess patient needs and safety. Assist in creating a quiet environment. Perform elimination procedures including Foley, colostomy, uro‑stomy care and appliance emptying and changing. Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as requested. Perform electrocardiograms (EKG). Assist ambulation with assistive devices such as crutches, walkers, or gait belts. Manage tubes and drains including Jackson‑Pratt, Hemovac, and Pleurovac. Use equipment such as intermittent compression devices, traction, scales, and cast care. Perform surgical skin preparation. Run errands to facilitate workflow (e.g., take specimens to lab). Operate technical equipment safely and appropriately. Demonstrate knowledge of special needs and behaviors of age‑specific groups. Document accurately in the electronic medical record, restraint record, and belongings list. Demonstrate knowledge of legal aspects of care and relevant legal documents. Use the computer system in use. Non‑Essential Duties Assist in special projects/assignments as needed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge : Basic nurse technician skills and understanding of relevant legal documents. Skills : Clear and concise communication; proficiency gained through completion of a basic nursing aide course or equivalent basic nursing modules. Abilities : Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clinicians, and other health team professionals; accept responsibility for accuracy and timely response to emergent and non‑emergent requests. Possess and maintain a current California License as a CNA (preferred). Minimum one year experience in an acute care setting (preferred). Required Licensure and/or Certifications Current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers. Maintain annual competencies, including successful completion of the annual skills requirement. Additional Requirements Knowledge of basic nurse technician skills.
