Develops and reviews plan of care for six to eight postpartum mothers or four dyads based upon initial assessment. May also be responsible for preoperative C-Section patients, and early antepartum patients. Initiates pre and post operative care planning related to monitoring such as Doppler checks, Non-Stress Test, pulse oximetry, PCA analgesia, pain assessment and pain medication administration. Provides for discharge planning utilizing patient and families. Supportive of Family Centered Nursing Care Model. Supervises, supports LVNs, PCA, And Unit Secretary. Assists physician with rounds as required.

What you will do in this role:

• Develops plan of care based upon initial assessment of postpartum patients throughout admission.
• Provides care for Postpartum patients that include order entry, IV therapy and diagnostic tests
• Provides care post operatively, including surgical site dressing, blood administration, managing IV lines, PCA analgesia,
• Provides for teaching with, but not limited to, bladder training, and breast pumps
• Provides age appropriate care to all patient populations for which staff member is
• Contributes to the learning of new employees, students, floats & agency personnel.
• Participates and provides input in staff meetings.
• Maintains departmental attendance standards as per hospital-wide policy.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
• 1 year experience Required
