Primary Responsibilities Work as part of a collaborative team, supporting fellow employeesandtaking directions from management to achieve project goals. Maintain a safe work environment by adhering strictly to all safety policies, guidelines,andregulations (including OSHA/MSHA standards),andproperly utilizing the required toolsandequipment for each task. Report any unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents immediately to management. Assist withconstructionandexcavation activities across a range of projects, including treatment plants, water, sewer,andstorm drain systems, performing tasks like shoveling, raking, wheelbarrow use,andpipe laying. Perform general labor duties as assigned, including digging, spreading,andleveling materials. Signal equipment operators to aid the alignmentandmovement of materials safelyandefficiently. Operate small power tools such as jackhammers and, as needed, various types of heavy equipment used in utility and road projects. Maintain constant visualandcommunicative contact with co-workers—using hand signals or other means—especially during equipment operationandbacking maneuvers. Conduct basic servicingandmaintenance on equipment; report more serious issues to the Foreman. Complete daily pre-andpost-operation inspections of equipment, documenting findings according to company policies. Lift, carry,andhold materials, tools,andsupplies as required for job duties. Assist with the placement, movement,andremoval of traffic control devices such as signs, barricades,andcones. Perform any additional duties as assigned by supervisors to support project success. Work Requirements Must pass a pre-employment drug screeningandcriminal background check. Work is conducted in a safety-sensitive environment, requiring strict attention to safety protocols. Must successfully complete a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical examination. Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving recordandcomplete safe driver training as required. Willingness to travelandstay away from home when assigned; this includes working with a portable asphaltconstructioncrew. Ability to provide necessary documentation to meet I-9 Immigration requirements. Exhibit professionalismandcourtesy in all interactions with co-workers, supervisors,andthe public. Report to work promptly at the designated start timeandmaintain reliable attendance. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and overtime. Strictly adhere to all safety proceduresandrequirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times in designated areas. Demonstrate a positive team spiritandassist others as needed to achieve overall team objectives. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age due to the nature of the work environment. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience with excavation equipment or inconstruction-related roles is an asset. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility. Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height. Lift and move objects weighing up to 25-50 lbs as needed. Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions. Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments. Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.
