The Role
As a Heavy Equipment Operator at McGill, you'll play a vital role in turning organic waste into high-quality compost, mulch, and soil products that help restore soils and support a cleaner, healthier environment.

You'll operate and maintain heavy equipment while safely moving, blending, screening, and processing organic materials. This is hands-on work where safety, attention to detail, and reliability are essential to keeping operations running efficiently.

Every load you move contributes directly to creating a valuable product that supports agriculture, landscaping, and environmental sustainability.

What You'll Do
Safely operate Front-End Loaders, Excavators, Skid Steers, Backhoes, Grinders, Screeners, and other heavy equipment
Load, transport, blend, and process organic materials
Perform screening operations and material blending activities
Conduct daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance checks
Identify and report equipment issues promptly
Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and PPE requirements
Maintain quality production standards
Work independently while supporting overall site operations
Participate in safety meetings and training programs

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience operating Front-End Loaders, Excavators, Skid Steers, Backhoes, or similar heavy equipment
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
Ability to work outdoors and in non-climate-controlled conditions
Reliable transportation to the Delray Beach facility
Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
Dependable attendance and punctuality

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb throughout the workday
Ability to work on uneven terrain and outdoor surfaces
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Ability to climb in and out of equipment throughout the shift
Ability to push, pull, and maneuver materials and equipment as needed
Ability to work around noise, dust, dirt, mud, odors, and moving equipment
Ability to wear required PPE and respiratory protection when necessary
