The Boeing Company is looking for Embedded Software Engineers (Experienced or Senior) to join the AvionX Mission Systems Software team located in Long Beach, California. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Technology & Innovation Software Engineering organization. Our engineers create systems to help pilots navigate through complex and nuanced situations to safely achieve their mission. We accomplish this by solving difficult problems in optimal path planning, estimation, and control, as well as autonomous fault protection. We strive to work from first principles and develop powerful abstractions to maximize capability while minimizing complexity. We're looking for team members who will collaborate with humility and curiosity.Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced or Senior Level Software Engineers.Position Responsibilities:Supports the design, development, test, debugging and maintenance of software that is integrated into embedded devices and systems and meets industry, customer, safety and regulation standardsAssists with review, analysis, and translation of customer requirements into the design of software products for embedded devices and systemsSupports building and writing code for embedded systems software to run on specific specialized hardwareContributes to integration of embedded software with hardware componentsSupports analysis, monitoring and improving the efficiency and stability of embedded software systemsParticipates in testing and debugging software for embedded devices and systemsSupports implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development and hardware technologiesSupports tracking and evaluation of internal and supplier software team performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standardsAssists with performing embedded software project management functionsBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):Bachelors Degree or higherActive US Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship3+ years of experience in embedded software developmentPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Level 4: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 9+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 13+ years of directly related work experience OR 17+ years of related, relevant experienceExperience in Matlab/SimulinkExperience developing software for motion planning, estimation, and/or controlExperience developing software for real-time, near real-time, or embedded systemsExperience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chainExperience leading software development projects using Agile development methodologiesTravel: 10%Drug Free Workplace: Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace (DFW) where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.CodeVue Coding Challenge: To be considered for this position you will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process.
