Infrastructure Software Engineer

About the Role

Sentient Industries is seeking an Infrastructure Software Engineer to join our team in Austin, TX. In this role, you'll build and maintain our infrastructure while developing frontend and backend software that powers our products and internal systems. You'll help ensure our systems are secure, reliable, and scalable while supporting cloud infrastructure, automation, and CMMC Level 2 compliance.

What you’ll do when you get here:

• Manage and maintain internal and cloud infrastructure
• Administer servers, virtualization, networking, and user access
• Build and maintain frontend and backend software applications
• Develop internal tools and automation to improve engineering operations
• Design and maintain APIs and backend services
• Implement infrastructure improvements and system migrations
• Monitor system reliability, uptime, and security
• Support and improve the company's CMMC Level 2 security posture
• Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues across the stack
• Collaborate with engineering to deliver reliable, secure software

This is an Austin, TX-based position. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship and either reside in the Austin area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.

Requirements

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or a related role
• Experience with Linux systems administration
• Experience developing backend services using Go, Python, Rust, or similar languages
• Experience building frontend applications using TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications
• Strong understanding of networking, authentication, and access control
• Experience working in cloud or virtualized environments
• Must be able to pass a federal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Proxmox
• Experience supporting CMMC Level 2, NIST 800-171, or similar security frameworks
• Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
• Experience writing automation scripts and internal developer tooling
