Utility Technician III - Choke Canyon Dam

Overview


Utility Technician III is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Raw Water Supply at Choke Canyon Reservoir and Wesley Seale Dam. This position is also responsible for the maintenance and operations of the water distribution system. Employees must remain in compliance with TCEQ and other applicable laws and regulations while working within the scope of their position.


Responsibilities
• Performs intermediate to advanced level process control measurements by the testing of DO, pH, ammonia, chlorine, jar test, sludge quality tests, aqueous and atmospheric sulfide levels
• Assists in identifying maintenance requirements
• Develop preventive maintenance strategies and plans
• Performs root cause analysis of equipment failures and makes recommendations on findings
• Oversees analysis and monitoring of raw water production
• Maintains detailed records and logs
• Prepares purchasing and minor construction contracts in direct support of maintenance and operations
• Exercises expert application of TCEQ regulations
• Directs the activation of remotely operated processes
• Reviews water analysis results
• Recognizes MCL's and potential to exceed
• Serves as technical subject matter expert for SCADA, I&E and Maintenance teams
• May act as lead in absence of Work Coordinator
• May perform other duties as assigned.


Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
• Non-Exempt-Full-Time
• 40-hour work week-Monday-Friday, 7:00am- 4:00pm
• Must be available to work additional hours as needed
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED
• Three (3) years of experience


Licenses and Certifications

Required
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring
• TCEQ Dam Safety Certification & Boat Safety License

Basis of Rating


A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
