Position Details Location Hattiesburg 118 College Drive Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 39406-0001 United States Division School of Social Sciences and Global Studies Position Type Faculty Employment Status Part Time Grant Funded No Salary Range 3,000.00 - 3,000.00 Pay Grade Generic Grade Posting Close Date Open Until Filled Job Summary The School of Social Science and Global Studies at the University of Southern Mississippi is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach political science courses either online or face-to-face. The primary responsibility of this position will be teaching a one-semester state and local politics course. Primary Duties And Responsibilities Teach political science classes as needed. Attend program meetings as determined by the program coordinator. Follow all university, college, and school policies regarding teaching practices and job performance. Be responsive to communication from students, staff, and administration. Hold regular office hours. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications 18 graduate hours of Political Science. Graduate degree in related field. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge of language and culture in the teaching field; skill in delivering required knowledge and ability to engender learning in students. Use of Canvas and ability to teach online both synchronous and asynchronous. Ability to use Mindtap and work with online textbook materials. Professionalism in all activities, participating in a collegial, ethical and responsible manner. Ability to respond to inquiries from students, staff and administration in a timely manner as stipulated. Preferred Qualifications Graduate degree in Political Science and experience with online teaching. Experience with Canvas.
