SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN

Summary You will serve as a Supervisory Physical Science Technician located in the Radiological Waterfront Operations Manager and Radiological Refueling and Special Empasis Manager (105.3A/B) of the Radiological Monitoring Division (105.3) in the Radiological Controls NNSY Waterfront (105.1W) that is located in the Radiological Control Office (Code 105) at NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will prepare or direct the preparation or all reports, and other required radiological control documents related to work assignments and staff assigned. You will serve as a radiological control representative at job summary review meetings, pre-job briefings, readiness reviews and on workgroups comprised of Production supervisors and technical code representatives. You will plan for and coordinate the procurement of special radiation and radioactivity monitoring instruments and equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience demonstrating knowledge, understanding and practical abilities listed in the radiological controls technician training standards section of the NAVSEA Manual Radiological Controls for shipyards; Experience performing physical science principles and techniques of radiological control requirements; Experience performing numerous sources of industrial radioactivity necessary to provide authoritative recommendations for radiological control techniques and procedures on major plant overhaul/refueling operations; Experience performing quantitative measurement and health physics techniques to conduct a comprehensive assessment of potential problems in such areas as radioactive spills, waste disposal, effluent monitoring and storage and handling of radioactive materials and equipment.
