Our vision for Director of BD Excellence at BD Lead strategy development and deployment (SDD). Ensure strategic alignment through cascading Key Performance Indicators (critical metrics’) top down and bottom up. Support business unit leadership team in creating strategic vision of improvement goals, business master plan (deployment roadmap and maturity expectations based on priorities) and governance process across all functions and sites. The majority of time to be spent in the factory environment directly developing capability. Challenge existing paradigms, encourage and promote internal and external benchmarking. Develop and grow zero loss approach across critical areas to optimize safety, quality, delivery and cost. Serves as a champion to overcome barriers by addressing issues promptly People development, especially with regards to Business OPEX managers and Plant OPEX managers. As the OPEX function leader for a business unit, guide, coach, and show skill in BD Excellence concepts and systematic approach, including strategy development & deployment (SDD), core components, Zero Loss approach and all related methodologies/tools. Ensure execution of and resource breakthrough Kaizen events Develop and grow capability through components and component teams to establish the fundamentals of excellence in safety, quality, and reliability. Coach and guide business unit leaders to ensure focus of resources and time on priorities. Continue to drive BD Excellence capability development and impact through deployment of dynamically sophisticated aspects of component methodologies. Achieve long term CI objectives through cross functional alignment of all resources toward shared goals. Works closely with the Plant Managers and Site BD Excellence Manager to support the development and implementation of the improvement strategy for their BD Excellence Maturity. Mentors /coaches plant BD Excellence managers Develop and grow BD Excellence capability, to help the business unit deliver a multi-year cost-to-win (CtW) program. Focus on building capability that improves problem solving, increases loss awareness, and empowers teams to eliminate factory-loss in an impactful, efficient, and sustainable way. Leverage BD Excellence Academy as capability building mechanism, to ensure consistent approach and development excellence. Develop a plan and govern the execution of projects driving OEE / OLE increase, Waste reduction and Labor Productivity increase in alignment with overall CtW plans for the BU. BU BD Excellence Leaders will be passionate about working with the BU ISC Leaders to create a culture of operational and customer excellence, implementing change, and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) across the network by leading the strategy development and deployment (SDD) for the BU. Conducts periodic review of KPIs and actions for all plants. Will facilitate and coach plant associates as required to ensure performance goals are achieved. On site coaching and assessments as required. Support global component centers-of-excellence (COEs). Help develop standards and best practices. Optimize methodologies for different manufacturing technologies. Develop and leverage best practices, drive best practice development and adoption. Ensure deploying sites establish and maintain appropriate component KPIs, maintain and promote visibility of global component impact. Technical Area of Expertise Demonstrates mastery of one or more areas of BD Excellence and has direct experience in leading the application of one or more areas of Operational Excellence / LEAN production. Demonstrates expertise in problem solving, as well as training and coaching others. Previous experience in implementing, and proven understanding of, Lean and Six Sigma business systems. Six sigma black belt certification preferred. Proven passion for safety, customercentricity and operational excellence. Excellent understanding of the interaction between operational excellence and customer service. Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills with people at all levels. Consistent track record in project or program management. Experience of working in a multi-site and multi-cultural environment. Business acumen and ability to display the linkage between projects and desired business results. Personal Specification: Flexible and able to travel. Expected travel up to 75% to be present within plants driving Kaizens, improving flow and developing/growing capability within the site. Must be collocated at a large or significant site within the BU. Language: Fluent English mandatory. Standout Colleague. Ability to influence without authority. Leadership and Critical thinking. Master’s degree desirable, e.g., business administration / LEAN production. Minimum 10 years manufacturing experience / leadership experience in a plant. Minimum 3-years’ experience operating a production system. Certified or recognized as a Production System practitioner/specialist in multiple components of the Operating System by proven successful systematic implementation where transformational business performance and capabilities are evaluated through a maturity assessment.
