BIM Designer

Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking a BIM Designer on behalf of our client, a company that has been providing electrical design, engineering, and construction services for commercial, industrial, and large-scale infrastructure projects. This role plays a critical part in leading advanced BIM modeling efforts, optimizing project workflows, and ensuring high-quality coordination across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead comprehensive model setup, including development of custom templates, standards, and workflows for large projects.
• Design, implement, and refine advanced tags, annotations, and parametric families to support dynamic model functionality and automation.
• Demonstrate expert-level mastery of Revit families through custom creation, editing, and integration in complex environments.
• Create and refine detailed 1-line and 3-line drawings, ensuring compliance with codes, engineer direction, and project objectives.
• Oversee complex Revit circuiting, panelboard schedules, and advanced scheduling tools while providing guidance to engineering staff.
• Direct equipment layout and clearances, integrating submittal reviews, code compliance, and multi-disciplinary coordination.
• Lead modeling of conduit and cable tray pathways, hanger/support systems, sleeves/penetrations, MEP coordination, section drawings, 3D models, underground coordination, and lighting layouts.
• Perform advanced clash detection and manage federated models using Navisworks; lead coordination meetings and BIM-focused discussions.
• Mentor BIM Designer I and II team members and provide training on advanced BIM techniques and best practices.
• Develop and enforce BIM execution plans, company standards, and continuous process improvements.
• Incorporate renewable energy systems, sustainable design practices, and emerging technologies into BIM models.
• Analyze model data to identify insights, risks, and value-engineering opportunities.

Requirements Include: Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field (required).
• Master's degree or advanced certifications preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 6+ years of BIM modeling experience, with extensive background in electrical contracting or MEP for large commercial/industrial projects.
• Advanced certifications (Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit, Navisworks, BIM Management, etc.) required.

Skills:

• Expert proficiency in Revit MEP, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC, and advanced tools such as Bluebeam or Dynamo.
• Advanced ability in drawing software including Revit and AutoCAD, with experience in scripting, automation, and plugin development.
• Mastery of 3D modeling, visualization, rendering, and VR integration techniques.
• Strong data management and interoperability skills (IFC, API integrations, data exchange protocols).
• Deep understanding of electrical system design, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and advanced construction practices.
• Strong skills in interpreting, modifying, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
• Experience with renewable energy systems, sustainable design, and LEED/BREEAM standards.

Certifications:

• Autodesk Certified Professional (Revit, Navisworks, BIM Management) or equivalent required.

Knowledge:

• Comprehensive knowledge of BIM workflows, electrical design principles, construction practices, and multi-discipline coordination standards.
• Familiarity with renewable energy modeling and sustainable design integration.
