Information System Security Officer (ISSO)

We are hiring an ISSO to support a program located in Fayetteville, NC. The role will support the Department of Defense Zero Trust cybersecurity initiative. The ISSO is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing cybersecurity controls to improve the security posture of DoD systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Support implementation and adoption of Zero Trust security principles.

• Maintain compliance with RMF, NIST 800-53, and CMMC requirements.

• Conduct security risk management, vulnerability assessments, and mitigation activities.

• Manage accreditation and authorization efforts under the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).

• Develop and maintain security documentation, including:

o System Security Plans (SSPs)

o Security Assessment Plans (SAPs)

o Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms)

• Oversee continuous monitoring and incident response activities.

• Collaborate with engineers, administrators, and developers to implement security controls across identity, endpoint, network, application, and infrastructure domains.

Required Experience

• Active TS/SCI clearance.

• Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, or ISSO experience supporting DoD/Federal programs.

• Experience with SSPs, SAPs, POA&Ms, and security compliance documentation.

• Knowledge of:

o DoD RMF

o NIST SP 800-53

o NIST SP 800-207 (Zero Trust)

o IAM and MFA technologies

o Security audits and continuous monitoring

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Preferred Experience

• AWS, DoD Cloud, or other cloud security experience.

• DevSecOps security integration.

• Network security, firewalls, and access control technologies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fayetteville, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
