Shipping Clerk

This role serves as the final department to handle products before they leave the facility, ensuring accurate, safe, and timely shipment of materials and finished goods. The shipping clerk operates industrial equipment, manages shipping documentation, and supports internal material flow to production and storage areas within a large automotive manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the final department to inspect and handle products before they leave the facility, ensuring accuracy and quality of outgoing shipments.
  • Operate industrial equipment to move, load, receive, and prepare shipments in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Print shipping labels, scan shipments, and send advance shipping notices (ASNs) as required.
  • Pick and load orders for tug operators to support timely movement of materials.
  • Deliver supplied parts to production lines and transport finished parts to storage or staging areas.
  • Enter receivers and related shipping and receiving information into computer-based data entry systems.
  • Perform general shipping and receiving duties, including loading and unloading trucks, verifying counts, and checking documentation.
  • Handle packing, picking, and material handling tasks to support warehouse and logistics operations.
  • Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed during daily operations.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working around industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Support overtime and extended shifts, including up to 12-hour days and weekend work, as required to meet production and shipping schedules.
  • Collaborate with team members, tug operators, and other departments to maintain smooth material flow and on-time shipments.
Essential Skills
  • Previous experience in shipping, loading, picking, warehouse, distribution, or logistics roles.
  • Previous usage of forklift, reach truck, order picker, or tugger in an industrial or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to operate or be trained on forklifts, tuggers, order pickers, and related industrial equipment.
  • Basic computer experience, including entering paperwork items into data entry or warehouse management systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required by daily job duties.
  • Comfort working in a loud, manufacturing environment with older machinery and typical industrial conditions.
  • Willingness and ability to work required overtime, including up to 12-hour days and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment consistently.
  • Strong attention to detail when printing labels, scanning shipments, and processing shipping documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Background in shipping and receiving, warehouse, or logistics environments.
  • Experience operating forklifts, tuggers, order pickers, or reach trucks in previous roles.
  • Comfort working in a large manufacturing facility with more than 400 employees.
  • Experience supporting automotive manufacturing or similar high-volume production environments.
  • Ability to adapt to different shifts, including 2nd and 3rd shift schedules.
  • Strong reliability and attendance, with interest in attendance-based incentives and growth opportunities.
  • Willingness to participate in training on day shift or hybrid shift schedules during onboarding.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large automotive manufacturing facility with more than 400 employees. Available openings include one 2nd shift position and six 3rd shift positions. Standard shift hours are approximately 6:50 a.m.–3:10 p.m. for 1st shift, 2:50 p.m.–11:10 p.m. for 2nd shift, and 10:50 p.m.–7:10 a.m. for 3rd shift. Candidates may be required to work up to 12-hour days and weekends as needed, and overtime is required to meet production and shipping demands. Initial training typically occurs on day shift for about one week or on a hybrid schedule combining 1st and 2nd shifts. The facility operates in the automotive industry and manufactures various components, including fuel hoses, air conditioning hoses, turbo air hoses, water and vacuum hoses, mounts, transmission parts, suspension parts, and chassis parts. The environment is loud and has typical manufacturing characteristics, including the smell of rubber and older machinery, but is well lit and supported by robust safety practices. Employees use industrial equipment such as forklifts, tuggers, order pickers, and reach trucks, and all required personal protective equipment is provided on site. Steel or composite toe footwear is required, and the company provides an annual stipend for steel-toed shoes. Dress attire consists of long pants and a T-shirt, with uniforms provided over time. The work setting emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork in a high-volume production and logistics environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bluffton, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $20.50/hr.
