Backcountry Trails Program
The CCC Backcountry Trails Program is hiring two Backcountry Crew Cook positions! We’re looking for experienced crew cooks who can cook delicious meals for a hungry trail crew. This is an excellent opportunity to lead and mentor young adults while providing them with the necessary nourishment so they can perform critical trail restoration work in California's national forests.
DUTIES:
- live and work with crew for entire 5-month season
- cook nutritious meals for a crew of 16 corps members, accommodating a variety dietary needs (e.g. meat, vegetarian, vegan, and allergies)
- manage spike camp kitchen including food inventory and sanitation
- manage food budget
- supervise, mentor, guide young adults in the context of a spike camp kitchen
LOCATIONS:
- Klamath Crew: 21 weeks in Klamath National Forest (various locations)
- Big Basin-Inyo Crew: 4-6 weeks in Big Basin State Park, 15-17 weeks in Inyo National Forest (various locations)
DATES: 4/20/22 – 9/30/22
PAY: Up to $19,998.

- Must have a ServSafe Food Handler Cert (can be obtained online)
- Possess own vehicle
