Java Developer - Server Side (Associate)

Role Summary Software Engineering position at Associate level in the Technology division, part of the Finance Technology team that manages the FARMS (Finance Allocation & Redistribution Management System). The system ensures correct balances are allocated to appropriate legal entities and cost centers based on business rules and provides data for the firm's financial reports. We are a team of 6 developers skilled in various technologies and are looking to welcome a team member skilled in Java/Spring Boot framework who will work in a fast‑paced global environment, delivering critical solutions to the Finance team. This role requires strong technological and analytical skills. Working on the team will provide the opportunity to apply a diverse set of technologies including Java, Angular, Spark, C#, ASP.net, Sybase, DB2, Snowflake and Business Objects. Required Skills 2-4 years of experience in Java Server Side development with multi‑threaded programming Relational Database skills: e.g., DB2, Sybase Strong debugging, troubleshooting and performance tuning skills Spring Boot Framework Linux/Unix skills Data representation in formats such as CSV/XML/JSON Familiarity with Build integration (Gradle, Jenkins, etc.) Familiarity with version control (Git preferred) Familiarity with using AI tools – GitHub Copilot/Claude Ability to work as part of a fast‑paced global team and deliver to aggressive timescales Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Preferred Skills C# Spark Angular Snowflake Finance/Accounting skills Compensation Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long‑term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
