Steel Mill Operations Generalist

As an entry-level Utility Person, you’ll support production and service units in a heavy industrial environment while building skills that advance your career. Your impact Support mill operations with hands-on work using basic hand tools and power tools (pneumatic equipment, gauges, oxygen lances, power-actuated tools, torches). Load, move, and process materials and finished product. Assist with equipment checks and maintenance tasks. Work near hot, heavy, or sharp materials and around hazardous chemicals as required. Perform manual tasks, including lifting over 25 lbs. Operate in varied conditions—hot, cold, wet, greasy, dirty, and noisy—and, at times, close to molten metal. Growth path After brief on-the-job training, advance to the Utility Technician role operating material handling equipment: overhead and mobile cranes, tractors, trucks, dozers, loaders, boom trucks, and feeders. Schedule and safety Rotating 8-hour shifts that include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Overtime as needed. Reliability—punctuality, steady attendance, and self-direction— is essential. Follow safety procedures at all times and wear required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, boots with metatarsal protection, and respirator equipment when necessary. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Pass a pre-employment digital assessment.
