Day Unit Clerk Monitor Technician - Port Orange Med/Surg Responsibilities include: Perform clerical and receptionist duties on assigned unit. Recognize and post monitor rhythms; operate and maintain monitor equipment. Enter physician orders accurately; ensure correct patient name, record number, and visit number. Establish prioritization of unit needs. Maintain patient’s chart and label paperwork correctly. Order unit supplies and chart forms. Greet patients, visitors, physicians and other hospital personnel courteously. When the patient is placed on cardiac monitoring, ensure monitoring continues and all alarms are active. Respond to monitor alarms; notify RN, Charge RN, Coordinator or Manager, obtain rhythm sample, notify RN of changes, print sample per unit policy. Admit, discharge and transfer patients on monitoring equipment. Collaborate with Biomedical Department on equipment maintenance. Clean and store telemetry equipment when not in use. Act as a team member: positive attitude, communication skills, harmony with staff, assist with orientation of new unit clerks. Demonstrate professional development and accountability: attend scheduled start time, maintain professional appearance, follow legal and ethical guidelines, complete annual education, attend unit in‑services, staffing meetings and required hospital in‑services. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Successful completion of the Basic ECG Recognition Exam for Unit Clerks. Knowledge of medical terminology and/or unit secretary certification preferred. Basic computer skills or ability to learn and use hospital system.
