About the Role
The Company is in search of a Chief Scientific & Policy Affairs Officer (CSPAO) to spearhead the establishment and leadership of its scientific and regulatory affairs. The successful candidate will be the senior scientific representative, providing strategic counsel and representing the company with a focus on nutrition, ingredient science, food regulation, and public health. This pivotal role involves strengthening the company's scientific credibility, thought leadership, and trusted voice by translating emerging science into business insight, developing corporate scientific and regulatory positions, and leading engagement on public policy and regulatory matters. The CSPAO will also be responsible for ensuring the organization is prepared to address evolving scientific, regulatory, and public policy issues, and will serve as a strategic advisor to the executive team. Applicants for the CSPAO position at the company should possess a PhD, MD, or DO in a relevant scientific discipline, with at least 15 years of progressive leadership experience in scientific and regulatory affairs or related fields. The role requires a candidate with a strong understanding of nutrition science, food regulation, scientific communication, and public policy, as well as exceptional communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative leadership style and the ability to build alignment across diverse functions. Experience in the consumer packaged goods, food, nutrition, or health and wellness industries is preferred, along with a proven track record of building or leading scientific and regulatory affairs functions and established credibility within relevant scientific, regulatory, or policy communities. Success will be measured by the ability to establish clear, evidence-based positions, integrate insights into business strategy, and proactively manage scientific and regulatory issues to support the company's long-term objectives.
