Product and Process Quality Technician

Support daily quality functions of receiving inspection, calibration, and metrology. Will work with minimal supervision. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Create inspection plans. Inspect purchased parts, assemblies, accessories and materials for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments and devices. Approve or reject items and record inspection and disposition information. Create green tags and release product in SAP. Create red tags, generate MRRs, and utilize the SAP system to reflect the rejected disposition of product. Responsible for PPAP part retention for inflators. Coordinate sample disposition with layout requesters (scrap or retain for analysis), including maintaining areas clean and organized. Use various tools to calibrate electrical, mechanical, and electronic instruments and equipment; ensure accurate and reliable results. Determine if instruments and equipment are performing within established ranges; analyze test data to decide on calibration, repair, or maintenance. Use systems and software to track, schedule, and perform maintenance tasks, ensuring performance and quality standards. Contribute to the repair of instruments, equipment and control systems. Document service through reports and other paperwork; prepare calibration certificates, data reports, and written recommendations for department heads and upper management. Maintain flow and organization of the area. Participate in Measurement System Analyses (MSAs). Other duties as assigned. Job Specifications Attention to detail. Measurement skills: Read and interpret blueprints; understand GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing); familiar with International System of Units; calculate and convert derived units and apply multipliers. CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programming experience. Mathematical knowledge: applied/technical mathematics including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. Troubleshooting capability: determine reasons for out‑of‑range measurements and test results. Analytical ability: analyze raw data, extract key information, and draw logical conclusions. Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, mistake‑proofing, and technical documentation. Good communication and computer skills. Experience with IndySoft Software. Education High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree preferred. ASQ Certification in a technical field such as CQT or other applicable certifications preferred. Experience 3+ years of work experience in a high‑volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive. At least 3 years experience in a quality‑related function. Previous leadership experience preferred. Physical Requirements Must have hand dexterity at moderate speed. Requires steady, active effort and continuous walking. Must be able to lift 40 lbs and perform frequent heavy physical effort.
