Data Engineer – Data Catalog (Alation)We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with expertise in Alation for a 6-12 month contract. This is a fully remote position, offering an excellent opportunity to work with cutting-edge data governance technologies.Key Responsibilities:Oversee the day-to-day configuration and maintenance of the Alation data catalog platform.Collaborate with project teams to design, configure, and deploy catalog use cases, ensuring timely and effective delivery.Validate, modify, and update lineage diagrams as needed to maintain accuracy and relevance.Integrate new data sources for metadata acquisition, ensuring seamless connectivity and data flow.Develop custom solutions, including API integrations, custom dashboards, and workflows, to meet specific use case requirements.Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in collaboration with client teams and vendors.Required Experience:5+ years of experience in Data Governance, data catalog, and data stewardship.Hands-on experience with the configuration and maintenance of data catalog tools, particularly Alation (MUST HAVE).Strong understanding of data governance capabilities, including data catalog, data dictionary, business lineage, technical lineage, and stewardship workflows.Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, HTML, Java, Python, and others.Experience onboarding metadata from various sources, including SQL Server, Oracle, Azure cloud, and more.Familiarity with cloud technologies such as Azure (preferable), Google Cloud, AWS, and Snowflake.Understanding of ETL technologies such as Mulesoft, ADF, Talend, SSIS.Knowledge of data quality practices and their integration with data catalog platforms.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams and vendors.Strong communication and writing skills.Why Join Us?Work remotely with a dynamic team on a high-impact project.Engage with advanced data governance tools and methodologies.Competitive hourly rate with a potential for extension.
