Clinical-Scientist or Scientist – Otolaryngology – Head and Neck SurgeryThe Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking clinician-scientists or scientists in the field of Cancer Research. UCSF has had a history of strong clinical productivity and additionally has several high-impact investigators dedicated to the clinical and/or basic sciences research specializing in areas of research such as hearing loss, head and neck cancers, sleep disorders, and voice and swallowing disorders. We have very collaborative research teams across the department and are looking to expand the breadth of our research portfolio. The preferred candidate will have a secure track record of attaining funding as a principal investigator and also have experience supervising trainees and lab personnel. Applicants at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level are encouraged to apply. Specific expertise in Head and Neck Cancer research is desirable but not mandatory. We are seeking individuals with a strong background in cancer research that would be able to transition into including head and neck cancer within their research portfolio. For clinician-scientists, clinical patient care will be in the field of Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery and Endocrine Surgery. The main research location for this position will be dependent on the needs of the applicant. Locations may include the Mission Bay, Mount Zion, or Parnassus campuses at the University of California, San Francisco. Required qualifications for Scientists:PhD degree, MD degree, or equivalent degree with research expertise in the field or specialty of Cancer. Required qualifications for Clinician Scientists:MD degree, MD/PhD degree, or equivalent degree with research expertise in the field or specialty of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Completed accredited residency program in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Board certified or eligible in the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Preferred qualifications for Clinician Scientists:Preferred applicant who with clinical training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery have completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery and be board certified or eligible. Applicant must have all requirements met by the time of hire. Applicants’ materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $130,200 - $393,200.
