Data Engineer

Brooksource Pharmaceutical Client | Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid)

Overview

Brooksource is seeking a Data Engineer to support a leading pharmaceutical organization focused on advancing drug delivery technologies and digital innovation. This role will be responsible for building scalable data pipelines, integrating enterprise systems, and supporting AI-enabled data solutions within a modern cloud environment.

Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Integration

  • Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Azure Fabric and PostgreSQL.
  • Integrate laboratory, quality, product development, and business systems into a governed data platform.
  • Develop API integrations and data ingestion frameworks for structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Implement data quality checks, monitoring, logging, and operational support processes.
  • Build AI-ready document ingestion pipelines supporting semantic search and retrieval capabilities.

Cloud & Platform Development

  • Develop and maintain cloud-based data solutions using Azure Fabric and AWS services.
  • Build containerized applications and support CI/CD deployment processes.
  • Manage secure access, authentication, and data governance practices.
  • Collaborate with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to implement scalable data solutions.

Data Modeling

  • Design and support relational database structures and data lakehouse architectures.
  • Implement Bronze, Silver, and Gold data models and transformation layers.
  • Ensure data lineage, traceability, and auditability across the data ecosystem.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on Data Engineering experience.
  • Strong Python development experience.
  • Experience building production ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Fabric.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and relational database design.
  • Experience developing REST APIs and system integrations.
  • Familiarity with AWS data services.
  • Experience with modern data architecture concepts including medallion/lakehouse frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, governance, monitoring, and operational support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, or ALCOA+ data integrity principles.
  • Experience with LIMS, PLM, quality, or laboratory systems.
  • Experience with AI/LLM integrations, vector databases, or semantic search solutions.
  • Azure or AWS certifications.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or Infrastructure as Code.
