Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a float pool position across multiple UC San Diego campuses, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and a valid CA RN license.

Details

Float pool ICU position covering multiple hospital locations including Thornton (La Jolla), Jacobs (La Jolla), Hillcrest, and East Campus (La Mesa)

May float to EDIP (emergency department inpatient overflow) within the ER

Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00

Patient population includes cardiac, neuro, general, stroke, medical, surgical, kidney, liver solid organ transplant, and trauma cases

4-week schedule provided two weeks in advance with no blocked or self-scheduling

Facility assignment communicated via phone call 2 hours before each shift

Requirements

Active CA RN license required at time of consideration

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required

Minimum one year of experience in an acute care setting required

At least one year of full-time equivalent ICU experience within the past two years required

Required skills: A-lines, phlebotomy, PICC lines, chest tubes, vent management, telemetry, and IV starts

Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Preferred skills: pulmonary artery lines and ICP monitoring

BSN preferred

Epic EMR experience required

Prior travel nursing experience required

CPI Blue Card required in-hand for all float RNs

Additional Information

Provide ICU-level nursing care across multiple hospital campuses based on census and unit needs

Must be comfortable working across 3 different hospital locations during the contract

Up to 8 hours of non-billable training modules included during orientation and annually

Returning UC San Diego staff must have been gone a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler

RTO limited to 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first 21 days of the assignment

Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel

Hours per week: 36

Hours per shift: 12
