Part-Time Physical Therapist Assistant

Overview / Primary Responsibility Provides direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, in full compliance with the State Practice Act. Applies specialized training and education to assist the Physical Therapist in implementing prescribed treatment programs effectively and safely.

Essential Functions

• Fully understand and comply with the applicable State Practice Act governing Physical Therapist Assistant practice under licensed Physical Therapist supervision.
• Review and adhere to the company's Clinical Operations Policies & Procedures Manual on an annual basis.
• Complete all required Medicare compliance training as mandated by regulations and company policies.
• Complete annual OSHA training and consistently follow OSHA standards and other relevant governmental regulations.
• Clean, prepare, and sanitize treatment areas and equipment in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
• Implement skilled therapeutic treatment programs as directed by the supervising licensed Physical Therapist.
• Clearly communicate patient comments, responses, and session activities to the therapist verbally or in writing.
• Document patient care accurately using accepted medical terminology and standard formats.
• Complete all required written documentation (e.g., daily notes, charge tickets) legibly, appropriately, and on time to meet facility, physician, and payer deadlines.
• Maintain open, respectful, and professional communication with co-workers, physicians, patients, families, third-party payers, and all stakeholders at all times.
• Attend and actively participate in facility meetings as directed by the Center Manager (e.g., utilization review, infection control, disaster preparedness).
• Complete sufficient continuing education coursework to meet state licensure requirements for each reporting period.
• Maintain current CPR certification that meets state licensure standards.

Additional Responsibilities

• Manage time effectively to meet or exceed facility productivity standards.
• Participate in and deliver clinical in-services as assigned.
• Stay informed on general healthcare trends and specific developments impacting physical therapy practice.
• Take on significant responsibilities in designated areas of center operations, as mutually agreed upon with the Center Manager.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift, transfer, and assist patients using proper body mechanics and biomedical techniques throughout the workday/shift; must be capable of independently lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Constantly walk, bend, stand, stoop, reach, and perform other physical movements during a typical workday/shift.
• Possess sufficient visual acuity (near and distant) to maintain accurate records, recognize individuals, and interpret written directions.
• Demonstrate adequate hearing and speaking abilities to understand instructions, provide directions, and communicate effectively.
• Push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in community settings as needed.
• Exhibit fine motor skills sufficient for scheduling, preparing patients, handling equipment, and managing supplies.
• Sustain prolonged physical activity for extended hours in compliance with state labor laws.

Required Credentials:
• Graduation from a physical therapist assistant or physical therapist education program accredited by CAPTE or in the case of a graduate of an international physical therapist assistant program or international physical therapist program from a non-CAPTE accredited program seeking licensure, certification, or registration as a physical therapist assistant, a substantially equivalent education
