Position Summary

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct behavioral and instructional support to students with behavioral, developmental, social, emotional, and communication needs in a school setting. Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the RBT implements behavior intervention plans, collects data, supports academic engagement, and promotes positive student outcomes across classroom and school environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs designed by the BCBA.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group behavioral support to students in classroom and school settings.
• Collect accurate behavioral and academic data and maintain documentation in accordance with school and clinical requirements.
• Assist students with communication, social skills, self-regulation, and daily functioning skills.
• Support classroom routines, transitions, and participation in academic activities.
• Use evidence-based behavior management strategies, including reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families to support student success.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information in compliance with FERPA and other applicable regulations.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
• Ensure a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in psychology, education, behavior analysis, or related field preferred.
• Experience working with children or adolescents in educational, behavioral, or therapeutic settings preferred.
• Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and behavior intervention strategies.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Ability to pass required background checks and comply with district policies.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and assist students throughout the school day.
• May be required to lift or assist students in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Ability to respond quickly in crisis or behavioral situations.

Work Environment

• School classroom.
• Frequent interaction with students exhibiting behavioral or emotional challenges.
