Ballard Spahr LLP is seeking a Developer/Reporting Specialist to support firm reporting requirements across multiple administrative departments. As the firm transitions to using Microsoft PowerBI technology as our standard platform for user based reporting, the Specialist will be responsible for working with business analysts and end users to specify, prototype and build out reporting dashboards which will support actionable decision making for business sponsors. In addition to PowerBI, some reports will continue to be developed and maintained using SSRS. The Specialist will have a strong command of SQL data structures including RDBMS, data warehouses, and data marts.
In addition to the pure reporting component, the Specialist may be required to leverage SQL and coding skills by assisting in custom development and data integration work. Applications are developed primarily in .NET technologies, and the firm uses SSIS for ETL processes integrating data between the various systems.
This position can be remote if located in Arizona, California Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Utah.
Required Skills
The analyst will be proficient in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, Integration Services, Reporting Services and PowerBI and familiar with additional Microsoft products (PowerPoint, Access, Word, Excel, .NET etc.). In addition, they will be knowledgeable in web-related technologies such as HTML, XML and web services, have extensive practical knowledge importing/exporting data for use in reports, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts.
Required Experience
A college degree in the field of business administration, computer science, finance, or management information systems, with at least two years of recent relevant work experience. A strong understating of data visualization best practices and development and an excellent understanding of relational and data warehouse/data mart database design, ETL processes, and programming fundamentals.
