Join us as we provide Life Changing Medicine to our community.Full-Time Nursing Assistant OpportunityANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Nursing Assistant to support our Acute Care Unit at the McCandless location.*Hired candidates will be required to attend orientation (classroom-based and unit-based) at Passavant for up to two weeks prior to beginning in this role.Responsibilities:Contributes to the universal unit activities including, but not limited to:Responding to call lights and telephonesPassing meal trays and transporting patients.Must routinely perform the UPMC core nursing assistant responsibilities including:ADLs (bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning and repositioning patientsPoint of care testing (inc. blood glucose)Weights & vital signsI&OTelemetry monitor application/reapplicationHAC & PSI prevention (TEDs/SCDs)Simple dressingsPlacement and removal of restraints12 lead EKGBladder scanAll specimen collectionsIV catheter removal and Foley catheter removalDemonstrates the following:Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the health care teamAbility to develop and maintain productive working relationships internally and externallyAccountability for actionsEnthusiasm, motivation, and commitment to patients and colleaguesCares for patients and self by supporting safety in the workplace and reports equipment malfunctions to the appropriate department.Assists with physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.Provides feedback to the RN regarding patient care and reports changes in patient status.Provides instruction to patients and their families under the direction of the RN. Constructively receives feedback and direction.Identifies and communicates learning needs to the unit director.Takes action to improve knowledge, skills and performance.Participates in self-review as requested by the unit director.Participates in project and committee work.Suggests and supports changes within the department.Assumes responsibility for assignment and views problems as challenges.Demonstrates awareness of behavior on the efficient functioning of the department.Strictly adheres to all policies and procedures relative to patient care and hospital related information.Complies with safety policies and procedures including standard precautions.Documents in the medical record according to established procedures.Performs assigned work in a timely and productive manner.Transports cardiac monitored patients within the hospital setting.Completes department clerical functions as needed*Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.*Performs other duties as assigned.**Note: All competencies must be achieved. They are not exhaustive lists of all duties, responsibilities, knowledge, skills, abilities and working conditions associated with the job.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Successful completion of UPMC nursing assistant or EIC training programKnowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques.Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.Licensure/Certification/Clearances:Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hireAct 34 Criminal ClearanceUPMC is an equal opportunity employer.
