Art and Design AdjunctHours Per Week:3-12 (up to 6 credit hours of class time)Job Type:Part-time faculty appointment with one semester teaching contractInternal Job Category:Adjunct FacultyPosition Purpose:Cumberland University Fine Arts program is seeking applicants demonstrating successful and active professional practice, knowledge of contemporary art and theory, excellence in the teaching of art understanding, art history, drawing, painting, photography, and/or ceramics. This position will enhance program strength, course offerings, and student opportunities in the program under the supervision of the program director. Successful candidates will have the ability to design and assess curriculum plans that foster rigorous student learning and engagement while enhancing the necessary skills required in adult learners in the field of art and design.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must be able to communicate well with students and other faculty membersDemonstrate a strong understanding of concepts in art and fundamentals of designBe proficient in a wide range of media and techniquesEngage in class and student assessment while maintaining all necessary paperwork and records based on Program Director requirementsCollaborate with colleagues in both program and field advancement activities such as creative and/or scholarly involvementExperience in supervising facilities and students in a 2D and/or 3D environmentDemonstrate organizational skills for curriculum management and program design including analysis of data for continuous improvementPossess ability to contribute positively to a dynamic setting with collaborative facultyExperience:Two or more years teaching experience in Art Understanding, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Ceramics, or other 2D/3D processesDocumentation of successful experience as an undergraduate professorEvidence of successful career in related fieldExperience and network in the Middle Tennessee region preferred but not necessaryEducation:MFA PreferredAdditional Information:Completed application will include=Letter of interestUpdated and detailed curriculum vitaePortfolio including 20 images of recent workPortfolio including 20 images of student workNames and contact information of three professional references (letters of recommendation are requested once finalists are chosen)Cumberland University is a teaching-focused and student-centered bachelor's and master’s level university.
