Blood Bank SupervisorValley Presbyterian HospitalLead Laboratory Operations & Support High-Quality Patient CareAt Valley Presbyterian Hospital, our Clinical Laboratory team plays a critical role in delivering accurate, timely diagnostic results that support exceptional patient care. We are seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor to oversee daily operations within one or more laboratory sections and/or shifts, while supporting quality, compliance, staff development, and operational excellence across the lab.What You'll DoSupervise the daily operations of one or more clinical laboratory sections and/or assigned shift(s)Serve as a working supervisor in areas such as hematology, coagulation, chemistry, microbiology, serology, and/or blood bankSchedule, organize, and assign duties to laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow and appropriate coverageReview staff work to ensure testing is performed accurately and in accordance with established standards and proceduresMonitor turnaround times and help optimize workflow to support timely test resultsTroubleshoot equipment and instrumentation issues as neededMaintain inventory control of laboratory supplies, reagents, and materials within assigned section(s)Oversee quality control processes, maintenance documentation, and instrumentation recordsAssist with onboarding and training of new employeesSupervise Clinical Laboratory Scientists and Laboratory Assistants, providing guidance, coaching, and supportPrepare performance evaluations and assist with employee counseling when appropriateServe as a liaison between the laboratory, medical staff, and other hospital departments in the absence of laboratory leadershipSupport compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standardsPerform additional duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the laboratoryWhat You BringStrong leadership and supervisory skills in a clinical laboratory environmentAbility to train, coach, and support laboratory personnel across technical sectionsAdvanced technical knowledge and sound clinical judgmentStrong understanding of laboratory workflow, quality control, and maintenance of instrumentation recordsExcellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skillsCommitment to quality, patient safety, and service excellenceAbility to work collaboratively with laboratory staff, physicians, and hospital leadershipExperienceMinimum of three (3) years of experience as a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist preferredPrior experience supervising laboratory staff or leading technical sections preferredEducationBachelor of Science degree in Biology, Medical Technology, or related science requiredParticipation in continuing education (minimum 12 hours/year) to maintain licensure requirementsRequirementsCurrent and valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist licenseLA City Fire Card certification required within 30 days of hireWhy VPHMission-driven healthcare organization committed to quality patient careLeadership opportunity within a collaborative and high-performing laboratory teamMeaningful role supporting diagnostic excellence and operational efficiencyOpportunity to mentor staff and contribute to continuous improvement across laboratory servicesApply today to lead laboratory operations and help deliver accurate, high-quality diagnostic services at Valley Presbyterian Hospital.
