Join our cutting-edge Edge Servers Platform Team! The Edge Servers Platform team is responsible for maintaining security, reliability and high-availability of our global platform. We ensure consistency and high performance for our customers. The team is responsible for recommending key initiatives and strategies to retain and grow revenue. We design, develop and deploy critical technologies that provide the technical underpinnings for all of Akamai’s products. Help us shape the future of the Internet As a Senior SWE, you’ll develop software that runs one of the largest distributed systems in the world. You’ll be creating innovative solutions for our network challenges and clients, to increase internet traffic and make it faster, reliable and secure. This role requires a combination of system design, compelling programming and debugging skills, an obsession with code quality, and independence. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for: Collaborating with other software engineering teams to influence and shape the design process and product development Creating and enhancing new features and functionality, including conception, design, testing and deployment Being the subject matter and team expert, leading and mentoring others to optimize their productivity Working with internal teams to troubleshoot complex problems in our network for our customers Do What You Love To be successful in this role you will: Have 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another related field. Have experience developing software in a Unix/Linux based distributed systems environment with C/C++ Need an understanding of protocols like TCP/IP, TLS, DNS. Demonstrate skills with bash scripting, SQL and debugging tools like gdb, tcpdump, Wireshark Have experience with multithreaded and event driven services operating in a distributed environment communicating over TCP/IP Be a natural communicator with an interest in mentoring others using your subject matter expertise Have an ability to solve complex problems through productive collaboration with others Work in a way that works for you FlexBase, Akamai’s Global Flexible Working Program, is based on the principles that are helping us create the best workplace in the world. For US based candidates only – the base salary for this position ranges from $106,600 – $221,400/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
