Phlebotomist Lab Coordinator / Certified Medical Assistant The Phlebotomist Lab Coordinator / Certified Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled clinical professional responsible for performing laboratory testing, phlebotomy, and clinical support duties to prepare patients for visits. This role requires a working knowledge of lab equipment, quality assurance processes, and established protocols to identify and resolve routine operational issues. All duties are performed in compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. As a member of the healthcare team, this position supports the delivery of patient-centered care in alignment with the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model. Laboratory & Phlebotomy (Phlebotomist / Lab Coordinator) Collect blood, urine, and other specimens following established protocols. Perform laboratory testing using automated analyzers and other instruments. Analyze specimens, record results, and maintain lab logs and quality controls (e.g., Pap tests, pregnancy tests). Review lab billing and charges, correct errors, obtain pricing for new labs, and communicate updates for system entry. Ensure proper handling, cleaning, packaging, and transport of instruments for sterilization. Maintain lab equipment, inventory, and supplies; report malfunctions promptly. Ensure compliance with all laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Clinical & Patient Care (Certified Medical Assistant) Prepare patients for examinations by gathering medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs. Provide patient-centered, culturally and linguistically appropriate care. Educate patients on health maintenance, healthy behaviors, and available community resources. Assist with care coordination and seamless transitions across care settings. Participate in care team huddles and support the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model. Utilize active listening and effective communication with patients, families, and care team members. Use health information systems (eClinicalWorks) to accurately document care and manage patient information. Perform laboratory tests and injections as ordered by providers and in accordance with training and scope of practice. Support telehealth and Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) pre-visit screenings and documentation. Mid Delta Health Systems, Inc.
