Senior Audio Visual Engineer - Variable Hour Benefit Eligible

Job Location 15151 E Alameda Pkwy, Aurora, CO 80012-1555, City of Aurora, Colorado Job Summary The Senior Audio‑Visual Engineer assesses and optimizes the performance of the City of Aurora audio‑visual systems. The role analyzes performance, resolves IT audio‑visual equipment and software issues, and provides audio‑visual support throughout the city. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Operate and administer audio/visual and collaboration technologies in support of public meetings, internal meetings, and special events. Operate and maintain existing technologies and systems in city facilities, focusing on City Council chambers and alternative venues. Lead selection, procurement, installation, and maintenance of new audio‑visual and collaboration technologies. Collaborate and coordinate with IT team members to support hybrid meeting technologies. Attend City Council meetings in person to address technical issues with in‑scope systems. Partner with Media, Community Engagement Department, and City Clerk’s Office for cohesive meeting experiences. Coordinate with external consultants when needed. Assist AuroraTV with successful broadcast of hybrid meetings. Assist presenters with materials such as PowerPoint, PDFs, spreadsheets, Word documents, YouTube videos within a Teams environment. Attend special events and board/commission meetings requiring audio‑visual analyst support. Administer eScribe Meeting Management at meeting times and support staff using the software. Streamline and standardize hybrid meeting technologies across city facilities. Assist with RFP process for audio‑visual and hybrid meeting projects. Work with other IT team members on broad technological needs inside and outside AV domain. Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college. At least five (5) years of experience in audio‑visual systems, collaboration technologies, or unified communications. Preferred Qualifications Experience with collaboration technologies such as WebEx, Microsoft Teams, or similar platforms. Experience with audio‑visual equipment and related systems (Crestron, Logitech, Poly, or comparable). Experience with audio‑visual industry standards and developing technologies and practices. Knowledge Advanced knowledge of audio‑visual system design, integration, and lifecycle management. Knowledge of collaboration platforms and hybrid meeting technologies. Knowledge of networking fundamentals as they relate to AV systems. Knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends in AV and unified communications. Knowledge of procurement processes, including RFP development and vendor evaluation in a public sector environment. Knowledge of troubleshooting methodologies for hardware, software, and integrated AV systems. Knowledge of computer programs and hardware, including service desk ticketing software such as ServiceNow or Cherwell. Skills Diagnose and resolve complex AV system issues in real‑time. Configure, integrate, and optimize audio‑visual and collaboration technologies across multiple facilities. Support live hybrid meetings, manage multimedia content, and ensure participant experience. Coordinate and standardize AV systems and processes. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver seamless AV experiences. Document system configurations, processes, and standards for consistency and scalability. Communicate technical concepts effectively to non‑technical users. Abilities Lead and execute AV system improvements and modernization initiatives with minimal supervision. Manage multiple priorities and respond effectively under time‑sensitive conditions. Analyze system performance and implement continuous improvements to enhance reliability. Adapt to evolving technologies and integrate new tools into existing environments. Provide customer‑focused support while maintaining professionalism in public‑facing settings. Interpret technical requirements and translate them into practical solutions. Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, vendors, and elected officials. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Creative problem‑solving, negotiation, and effective response under pressure. Licenses and Certifications Valid Colorado driver’s license and ability to operate a city vehicle. Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate (preferred). Other industry‑recognized IT certifications (preferred). Working Conditions Essential personnel requirements: may be required to work when an emergency or disaster is declared. Physical Demands Heavy physical work requiring ability to lift up to 75 pounds, regular lifting and carrying of computer equipment, moderate walking and standing. Work Environment Primarily office environment; occasional noisy environment with exposure to dust, chemicals, odors, fumes. Equipment Used Standard office equipment (PC, email, internet, Word, Excel). Audio‑visual equipment (projectors, screens, speakers). Maintenance tools for audio‑visual equipment.
