The AWS Environmental team has responsibility for architecting and implementing AWS’s global environmental programs. The work of our Regional Environmental Engineers is critical to enabling AWS's growth in the US and around the world.As a Regional Environmental Engineer (REE), you will be responsible for environmental compliance at AWS data centers in Ohio. You will develop standards and policies to support regulatory compliance, complete environmental performance analysis, establish and monitor metrics, and guide the teams in implementation of Amazon environmental standards. You will provide guidance and build effective relationships with internal and external partners, including government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, operations and other key stakeholders.This position is based in Columbus, Ohio and will require travel throughout the state/US.Key job responsibilities• Manage and oversee compliance with environmental regulations and Amazon policy;• Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization;• Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards;• Develop environmental metrics to measure, monitor and forecast performance;• Conduct thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement;• Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently;• Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company;• Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately;• Assist in time-critical report submission to various governmental agencies;• Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective action.A day in the lifeYou will partner with AWS stakeholders to develop regional and site-specific development strategies enabling the construction and operation of AWS datacenters and infrastructure. You will support environmental due diligence for site selection and acquisition, support and execute regional and site-specific environmental permitting strategies, support environmental compliance during design and construction, and prepare for data center operations. This role requires regular engagement throughout the development lifecycle with multiple AWS stakeholders including Real Estate, Legal, Risk, Water, Design, Public Policy, Construction, and Operational teams, as well as external stakeholders including regulatory agencies, consultants, and contractors.About the teamAWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
