Senior Manager, Data Center Facilities Development United States Job Description Leads and manages the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. Supervises multiple project teams, offering strategic direction and resolving any issues that may arise during project cycles. Leads the creation, review, and maintenance of documentation, including design review, commissioning, and problem-solving papers. Leads the management of quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards. Supervises comprehensive site walks and directs the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects. Addresses gaps in risk identification and mitigation, and communicates potential impacts to senior management. Oversees the primary point of contact role between the company and colocation providers. Leads the selection, negotiation, and management of contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and performance and construction activities align with the approved design plans and specifications. Leads the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling systems. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Construction Project Management – Project Planning and Execution: Leads and manages the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. Develops and maintains detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers to ensure timely milestone delivery. Manages project budgets, optimizing resource allocation to ensure cost-effective project execution. Supervises multiple project teams, offering strategic direction and resolving any issues that may arise during project cycles. Leads the creation, review, and maintenance of documentation, including design review, commissioning, and problem-solving papers, guaranteeing team compliance with standards, effective document management, and the suitability of all materials for their intended purpose. Construction Project Management – Project Integration and Quality Assurance: Leads the management of quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards. Oversees the coordination and integration of tenant fit‑out projects, ensuring effective communication and addressing challenges during design, construction, and commissioning phases. Supervises comprehensive site walks to ensure schedule adherence, coordination, and quality throughout the project lifecycle. Directs the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects, ensuring all systems are operational and meet design specifications. Risk and Problem Management: Oversees the evaluation of risk profiles associated with timely project delivery for multiple projects. Addresses gaps in risk identification and mitigation and communicates potential impacts to senior management. Develops and oversees the implementation of mitigation strategies for major construction project risks to ensure project success. Stakeholder and Vendor Management: Oversees the primary point of contact role between the company and colocation providers, ensuring clear and effective communication and coordination across multiple teams. Develops and maintains strategic relationships to support internal and external stakeholders effectively, contributing to strategic planning and decision‑making. Leads the selection, negotiation, and management of contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and performance, and overseeing the resolution of significant contract issues. Design Coordination and Improvement: Oversees collaboration with design teams to ensure that construction activities align with the approved design plans and specifications, coordinating across multiple teams. Provides strategic colocation provider evaluation input for continuous improvement, contributing to strategic planning and decision‑making. Leads the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling systems, ensuring adherence to quality standards and overseeing the resolution of significant installation issues. Core Responsibilities Planning & Execution: Manages multiple medium- to large-scale projects or initiatives across teams, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and budgets when applicable are monitored and met. Provides direction to teams on project work, setting priorities, and aligning with business needs. Guides teams on adjusting plans to accommodate resource or timeline changes. Collaboration & Partnership: Drives cross‑functional partnerships to align on expectations and shared objectives across multiple teams. Coaches team members to develop strategic relationships with business leaders, stakeholders, and external partners to foster collaboration and long‑term success. Promotes inclusivity by actively seeking and listening to diverse perspectives, ensuring others feel heard and respected. Problem Solving: Provides direction to multiple teams on addressing complex operational and/or technical issues, and offers guidance on analyzing complex data and information to identify solutions. Reviews and provides insights into unresolved or critical issues, helping the team to identify potential solutions. Continuous Learning: Models engaging in continuous learning to deepen expertise and stay ahead of industry trends, integrating best practices into strategic planning. Leverages feedback to drive personal and team skill improvements. Identifies skill gaps across teams, and empowers team members to pursue learning and knowledge sharing opportunities. Continuous Improvement: Drives team to collaborate on, develop, and implement ideas to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, protocols, and workflows within and across teams, providing oversight. Guides team to adopt new ideas for alternative approaches and methods and encourages feedback for continued improvement. Performance and Development: Drives performance across teams by providing feedback and coaching in alignment with performance management processes, guidelines, and expectations. Discusses development goals with team members, shares opportunities to facilitate career development, and ensures individual goals are aligned with broader organizational goals. Develops and manages talent acquisition pipeline by leading candidate interviews, monitoring promotion eligibility, and/or orchestrating talent resources. Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only. US: Hiring Range in USD from: $126,200 to $264,100 per annum. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation. 11 paid holidays. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours. Paid parental leave.
