Bus Monitor/Aide

First Student – Monitor/Aide Location: Berkeley Heights, NJ. Compensation and Benefit Highlights Starting Pay: $16.00 per hour. Career advancement opportunities across North America. Positive and rewarding work environment. Responsibilities Know the route and remain alert to monitor passenger welfare while in route. Communicate behavior problems and conditions of various stops with the driver. Assist in pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of the bus. Assist students in the loading and unloading process. Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, students, and parents. Attend all safety and training meetings. Conduct emergency evacuation from the bus, including use of emergency doors. Open and close service doors; move up and down steps multiple times daily. Clean the inside of the bus. Assist the driver when necessary to safely direct the vehicle backwards. Required Experience and Skills Good verbal communication skills. Attention to detail. Early morning availability. Judgment and problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage high degrees of stress.
