Store Manager

Title: Assistant Store Manager I Location: Yorktown, VA – Coast Guard Exchange Schedule: Full‑time Salary: Negotiable Job Overview Lead retail operations, provide exceptional customer service, manage staff, and support the mission of the U.S. Coast Guard at the Yorktown Exchange. Responsibilities Assist in the management of a retail activity with sales less than $14M. Oversee receipt, stocking, pricing, inventory, transfer, replenishment, and warehousing of merchandise. Assist customers and resolve complaints. Interview, hire, train, and develop assigned personnel; coach staff for growth. Assist in developing promotional sales initiatives. Coordinate with vendors and execute operations of assigned departments. Ensure store recovery and compliance with loss‑prevention policies. Supervise vending and warehouse operations; maintain product knowledge and assist customers. Execute key carrier duties, including store opening and closing; work scheduled weekends. Review monthly P&L statements, compare actual figures to plan, and initiate corrective action as needed. Direct or supervise employees in the manager’s absence and ensure overall store performance. Enforce safety standards, emergency preparedness requirements, and loss‑prevention protocols. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Two years of progressively responsible experience equivalent to a lead/supervisor, demonstrating leadership, operational oversight, and customer service management, or completion of the CGX Leadership Development Program. Ability to lift 10 pounds routinely and 25 pounds occasionally; able to stand for extended periods. Preferred (in addition to Minimum) Prior retail merchandising experience. Bachelor’s degree in retail, business administration, or related field, or equivalent general business experience on a year‑for‑year basis. P&L analysis experience.
