Tax Director of Practice OperationsWhat You’ll DoLead the day-to-day operations of the Tax Department, ensuring efficient service delivery and achievement of departmental goalsOversee tax compliance workflows and monitor tax return production to ensure timely completion of engagements and filing deadlinesPartner with Tax Principals and Managers to manage workload capacity, project status, and resource allocation across the departmentDrive process improvement, standardization, and operational efficiency to enhance productivity, quality, and client serviceMonitor key performance metrics including utilization, realization, profitability, turnaround times, and department performanceSupport tax season planning, workforce forecasting, scheduling strategies, and workload balancing to meet business demandsLead, coach, and develop team members while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementChampion the use of technology, automation, reporting tools, and AI-enabled solutions to streamline operations and improve visibilityCollaborate with firm leadership and cross-functional teams to align staffing, budgeting, and operational priorities with business objectivesSupport recruiting, onboarding, talent development, and compliance with firm policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.ð¼ What You BringBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in public accounting, tax operations, tax administration, tax compliance management, or professional services operations, including experience supporting tax service delivery and department performance.Preferred: Proven tax operations leadership experience in a complex, multi-office tax practice, including expertise with tax workflow and practice management systems; CPA, EA, or JD credentials are a plus.ð¡ What Sets You ApartStrong working knowledge of tax compliance operations, engagement lifecycle management, filing deadlines, extensions, work-in-process management, billing processes, and public accounting firm tax practices.Experience managing operational workflows, capacity planning, scheduling, workload balancing, resource planning, and process execution in a professional services environment.Experience with budgeting, forecasting, KPI reporting, revenue and profitability metrics, utilization, realization, and operational decision-making.Experience using practice management, workflow, reporting, dashboard, or similar systems to monitor work, deadlines, capacity, and department performance.Experience leading process improvement, standardization, technology adoption, automation, or AI-enabled workflow initiatives that improve efficiency, quality, accountability, and the team or client experience.Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally with firm leadership, People Operations, Finance, Resource Management, Client Success, IT, Marketing/Business Development, and other stakeholders to support department and firm initiatives.Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold team members accountable for performance, quality, service standards, workflow milestones, and deadlines.Strong analytical, communication, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and support sound operational decisions.ð Why You’ll Love Working at REDWCompensationSalary range: $138,400 - $173,000Final offer based on location, experience, skills, licensure, and business needCommitment to fair and equitable pay practicesBenefitsMedical, dental, vision, life, disability401(k) with matchHSA and FSA optionsWork-Life & WellnessFlexible PTO + 10 holidaysMonthly wellness reimbursementGrowth & DevelopmentLearning platform + credential supportOngoing development resourcesRemote Support$150 annual WFH allowanceTech providedCultureAward-winning workplaceStrong focus on collaboration and inclusionEqual Opportunity EmployerREDW values diversity and is committed to equal opportunity in the workplace.
