A leadership role focused on establishing AI‑based drug discovery collaborations and partnerships through Internal Medicines’ AI‑Driven Cardiometabolic Drug Discovery Institute. This role will partner with IM leadership to implement a strategic vision of building a collaborative ecosystem where AI and bench scientists work side‑by‑side to co‑create value for patients. The alliance lead will actively engage with academic institutions, entrepreneurs, and biotech companies to identify compelling emerging science opportunities at the interface of AI and cardiometabolic disease drug discovery. The alliance lead will manage the scientific and logistical aspects of complex partnerships and present regular updates to senior leadership on progress and milestone achievements.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with IM leadership to accelerate innovation leveraging entrepreneurial and scientific advice, funding, and space to derisk and develop tangible concepts in CMD‑specific drug discovery. Identify, implement, and manage high‑profile collaborative or incubator partnerships that advance the integration of AI‑driven strategies into the discovery and development of novel cardiometabolic drug candidates. Represent IM to external collaboration partners and serve as a networker who forges strong relationships with academic, biopharma, and entrepreneur stakeholders to attract ideas and catalyze new ways of thinking about the application of AI to cardiometabolic drug discovery problems. Establish appropriate oversight and metrics for a portfolio of collaborative projects to measure success and demonstrate value generation. Serve as an interface between IM, Business Development, Legal, Discovery Network, and other supporting lines to help navigate collaborations and maximize return on investments in external science. Actively manage collaboration and partnership risks, devising and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies. Communicate collaboration status to senior leaders and champion the asset to ensure appropriate resources (budget and FTEs) are secured and deployed to facilitate delivery of the collaboration plan.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
PhD or MD with at least 15 years of experience in relevant Internal Medicine‑based scientific discipline(s). Broad understanding of cardiometabolic disease biology. Contemporary knowledge of applying AI to solve drug discovery problems. Strong track record of managing and delivering results from complex alliances between academic and industry stakeholders. Experience developing collaborative research plans with milestone‑based incentives. Ability to effectively facilitate complex, strategic conversations. Strong leadership and presentation skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Track record of successfully working effectively with multidisciplinary teams in collaborative environments. Entrepreneurial thinking coupled with strong organizational skills. Demonstrated success in negotiating within a highly matrix‑based organization. Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities, including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes, and create business impact. Work Location Assignment: This is a hybrid role requiring you to live within commuting distance and work on‑site an average of 2.5 days per week. The annual base salary for this position ranges from $214,900.00 to $358,100.00. In addition, the position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in the share‑based long‑term incentive program. Benefits include a 401(k) plan with Pfizer matching contributions, an additional Pfizer retirement savings contribution, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits covering medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision.
