Position Summary

The Community Life Specialist brings energy, purpose, and connection to older adults' lives. This position ensures consistent delivery of a wide variety of engaging, wellbeing-focused experiences for residents to select from. Programming will not just be completed; it will be welcoming, well-facilitated, and responsive to resident interests and abilities.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead/facilitate a wide variety of high-quality, resident-centered programs that touch on physical, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual wellness.

• Adapt programming based on ability and preferences, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all who wish to participate.

• Build meaningful relationships through group and one-on-one interactions.

• Encourage participation while respecting independence and choice.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance experiences.

• Assist with special events, outings, and community-wide initiatives.

• Track participation and support calendars, communications, and program logistics.

Qualifications

• Passion for person-centered older adult wellness and engagement.

• Friendly, compassionate, adaptable, professional. Strong organization, communication and follow through skills.

• Experience in one-on-one and group recreation, activities, or work in a senior living community (or related field) preferred.

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and related systems required.
• Valid Illinois drivers license.

Work Environment & Requirements

• This is an active role requiring frequent movement, standing, and setup.

• Must be able to lift, bend, and assist with resident mobility as needed.

• This position includes occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• We have a dynamic department that welcomes participation from residents, families, and staff.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.65 - $24.00 per hour. Company-wide bonuses equaling up to 2% of salary are available based on performance, generally in the spring and fall each year.
