Material Handler II

Under general supervision, distributes either production or non-production items and materials to various locations throughout the plant. Materials may consist of purchased parts and in-process parts, return-to-stock parts among other materials.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains inventory accuracy
• Moves parts, WIP or finished product and delivers mail packages to various department locations and/or warehouse locations
• Operates various material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, rolling carts or forklifts
• Maintains the required documentation of all parts and materials moved in accordance with the specified procedures
• Drives in various road conditions, small roadways, highways
• Ensures work areas and other designated work areas are maintained in a safe and neat manner
• Ensure all material and inventory remains properly identified and stored free from damage or deterioration
• Assists with the training and instruction of new employees who may be assigned to this area
• Set work priorities to meet production goals as scheduled per assigned department
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those in contact on a day-to-day basis

Requirements:

• Three (3) years- experience in warehouse environment
• Forklift experience preferred
• Attention to detail
• Proficient in computer use for data entry, part scanning or transacting, printing of picklist and schedule review
• Meet minimum standards of safety and housekeeping per assigned department
• Have a valid Ohio Driver's License
• Ability to read metric tape measures and use measuring devices
• Ability to perform all operations within acceptable inventory accuracy, quality and time standards
• Must have the ability to read, write, and perform mathematical computations at a level required for successful job performance

Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
• The employee frequently is required to walk
• The employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40#'s without assistance
• Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling or bending positions
• Ability to work with arms above head
• Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding
• Ability to stand at a workstation for eight hours a day (minus specified breaks.)
• Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards
• Ability to safely use specified hand, air, power tools, and machinery
• Ability to operate and understand the operation of all protective safety equipment in the area
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
• Hand-Eye coordination
• Required to handle and dispose of hazardous waste
• Understanding and carrying out required oral and written directions

Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts
• The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
• The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
• The noise level in the work environment is elevated
• Personal Protective Equipment Recommended and/or Required: Safety glasses if walking in plant vicinity. Earplugs if walking in plant vicinity. Work Gloves Protective disposable suite when necessary Respirator when required for hazardous materials. Steel toe shoes
