Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery

Contract | Days | 3×12-Hour Shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | Expected 36–48 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Labor and Delivery unit managing a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio across a 21-room/bed unit
• Care for patients from triage (14 weeks and above) through labor and delivery, including preterm, multiple gestations, preeclampsia, postpartum hemorrhages, and IUFDs
• Manage multiple simultaneous drips including Pitocin, magnesium, and insulin; assist with epidurals, amnio infusions, and nitrous oxide administration
• Circulate in OR and recover C-section patients — required skill
• Utilize unit systems including EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR for documentation and medication management
• Float within Women's Services as needed; every other weekend shift is expected

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery RN experience
• Experience at a facility with at least 400 births per month
• Active NC RN license or valid Compact license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
• Required certifications: BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, and NRP
• Proficiency with EPIC, IV starts, and OR circulation; experience with labor inductions, multiple drips, preeclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage, and preterm/multiple gestation care
• Local candidates are welcome

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Familiarity with specialized equipment including epidural pumps, PCAs, Alaris pumps, fluid warmers, and nitrous oxide delivery systems
• Experience with amnio infusions and nitrous oxide administration
• Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers will be considered)
