I. JOB SUMMARY Performs advanced supervisory maintenance and construction work. Works involves overseeing maintenance and construction staff involved in the installation, care, and repair of state facilities and equipment. Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS A. Oversees and schedules preventive maintenance programs; inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, and power circuits; schedules and inspects completed work on buildings, equipment, machinery, and grounds; and reports inspection findings to staff and management.. B. Oversees the preparation of estimates for work hours, materials, and resources required for projects; and communicates and coordinates with vendors. C. Confers with staff regarding workloads, training, safety programs, and job priorities; participates in planning repairs, maintenance, and installation of electrical systems, electrical control devices, and electrically-driven power equipment used in the packing and processing plants; and prepares reports and maintains records of repairs. D. Designs the layout and implementation of new electrical systems and controls to include the drawing of schematics and wiring diagrams for machinery. E. Oversees the supervision of inmates in the maintenance and repair of equipment. F. Assists in maintaining security of assigned inmates. * Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
