This position is located in the city of Lancaster.Under the general supervision of the team manager , and guidance from the designated employee, the Support Services Assistant-Interpreter (SSA-I) provides reasonable accommodation associated with work-related activities to support persons who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH) with performing necessary job assignments. The SSA-I facilitates communication between individuals with hearing impairments and hearing persons, serves as an interpreter to include interpreting confidential information; accompanies staff members to places of business where interpreting services are otherwise unavailable; and performs other duties related to assisting the communication process. Interpreting services is performed in-person and virtually dependent on the needs of the D/HH individual and the venue. When the assigned employee is not in need of assistance, the SSA-I may be assigned to work similarly with other staff members.
Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent must live and work in California. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time.

Permanent Intermittent Positions: Permanent Intermittent employees are not allowed to work more than 1500 hours in a calendar year. The anticipated time worked will be 30 hours per week. If selected, the employee will receive an hourly compensation based on the number of hours worked.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The majority of the work will take place in one of the following locations with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders: a DOR open office setting in a cubicle environment, offsite in the community, at events and various partner locations, and/or at an approved alternate work location. The incumbent must have the ability to work in an office setting for up to 40 hours per week and remain at a workstation for extended periods while utilizing a personal computer, peripherals, and other office equipment with or without accommodation. The incumbent will be working in an office setting with both natural and artificial lighting. Strong interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
