Maintenance TechnicianThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for managing mechanical reliability for the plant. Supports the Plant and Production Manager with all aspects of mechanical maintenance.Duties & ResponsibilitiesEnsure the safe and efficient operation of all equipment to meet or exceed company established OEE expectations and customer quality expectationsFollow Lockout/Tag out PolicyProactive in addressing unsafe conditions on production equipmentProcess production equipment and maintain documentation to support process changesProactive in addressing inefficiencies of production equipmentPerform maintenance tasks as outlined by Maintenance ManagerUse power tool equipment in the shop in a safe manner to avoid injury or harm to self or other employeesPerform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks as outlined by Maintenance ManagerProactive in addressing machine inefficiencies during PMsEvaluate operator checklist and comments prior to performing preventative maintenance to ensure all causes for production inefficiencies are addressed and correctedEnsure equipment is clean and in "showroom condition" after preventative maintenance is performed on production equipmentContinually evaluate equipment for improvement areas. Tag components or parts that need repair, replacement or improvement as outlined in the TPM guidelinesPerform changeovers with limited downtimeEnsure production equipment is in safe and efficient operation after each changeoverPerform building maintenance as directed by managementMaintain sufficient records to support the SAP parts management by recording parts removed from inventoryNotify Maintenance Manager when parts inventory becomes low or reaches a re-order pointComplete the appropriate documentation required by all work ordersCoordinate with Production Manager as it relates to production equipment training and employee development while providing suggestions for training topicsPromote and participate in good housekeeping habits to ensure plant appearance exceeds management and customer expectationsPerform changeovers with limited downtime, repair and troubleshoot all plant production equipment (blow molding, injection molding and extrusion and all associated equipment; varies by plant)Support of equipment installation, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specificationsIdentification of complex problems with mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic issues on all associated equipment (conveyors, compressors, chillers, programmable controllers, robots); review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutionsUnderstanding of machine processing and recipe managementIdentification of the appropriate tools and equipment needed to complete the jobAbility to work with vendors and/or contractors as requiredImplement operational improvements (spoilage, downtime, line speeds, etc.)Communicate problems, progress reports and continuous improvement ideas to management staff, maintenance and production personnelComply with all company safety policies and procedures as well as maintain good housekeeping, GMP practices and Global Food Safety practices.Perform other duties or projects as assigned by managerCompetencies & QualificationsMinimum High School Diploma (or GED/High School Certification); prefer Technical School Certification3-5 years relevant manufacturing experience in plastics technology or a similar technical areaAbility to clearly communicate technical system issuesStrong mechanical maintenance experience and strong knowledge hand and power toolsDemonstrated understanding of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systemsGood working knowledge of computer systems, including MS Office and SAPGood "hands on" working approachAble to work independently, identify problems and improveAbility to work in a fast pace environment and work well under pressureAbility to prioritize multiple projects and complete in a timely manner with limited supervisionGood interpersonal skillsAble to work flexible and/or extended hours and weekends as business demandsAbility to remain in a stationary position for various times throughout the shift, able to move or traverse in manufacturing area safely, ability to ascend/descend a ladder or stairs, ability to position self to work on manufacturing equipment, must be able to see information postings throughout the facility, visually troubleshoot items on machinery and read directions, documents and signage, ability to frequently move object weighing up to 50-75 pounds and ability work in very hot or very cold conditions.Ability to drive a fork lift and achieve certification
