Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Epic EMR proficiency, recent ICU experience Description: Unit Notes: Start Dates are not flexible. 100-mile radius rule applies. No guarantees for 48-hour work weeks. No blocked scheduling requests allowed. No more than 5 days of requested time off. Trauma level I/II experience is required. Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:1 or 1:2 in Medical-Surgical ICU. If there are no vents or drips, the ratio can go up to 1:3. Number of beds in the unit is 42. Common diagnoses include cardiac conditions such as open heart surgery, balloon procedures, and impella usage. Core staff manage cases including small head bleeds, post-tPA administration, and level 3 trauma. Ventilator, sedation, sepsis, pressors, DKA, cardiac, CHF, and respiratory experience required. RNs must titrate drips. Common titratable and set rate drips include: - Vasopressors: Epi, levophed, phenylephrine, vasopressin - Inotropes: Dopamine, dobutamine, primacor - Antiarrhythmics: Amiodarone, cardizem, esmolol, lidocaine, procainamide - Anti-hypertensives: Clevidipine, labetalol, cardene, nipride, nitro - Beta Adrenergic: Isuprel - Sedatives: Ketamine, Precedex, propofol, versed - Paralytics: Vecuronium, Nimbex, rocuronium - Analgesics: Fentanyl, morphine - Anticoagulants: Aggrastat, tPA, argatroban, heparin, integrilin - Additional: Insulin There is no Charge Nurse present on each shift. Unit has patient care aides who assist with various tasks. Ratios for assistants are typically 1:10. Clientist or Intensivist available 24/7 with 2 MDs and 1 NP during days and 1 NP/1 MD at night. Respiratory therapy is present 24/7 and assists with ventilator settings, intubations, and blood gas tests. Unit supports telemetry monitoring from centralized locations, with additional monitors in the rooms. Shifts and scheduling require clocking in and out for meal breaks. Self-schedule with up to 4 requested days off in a 4-week period. Weekend requirements include working 4 weekend day shifts within a 4-week period. Holiday requirements mandate working 2 major holidays. No call or standby requirements. Floating to other units may occur, with a reduced patient load. Scrub color is navy blue. Cancellation policy allows for client cancellation of hours equivalent to guaranteed weekly hours for the assignment duration. Charting system is Epic. BSN is not required. Trauma Level is 2. Care setting is acute. Shifts may vary.
